Débutant le 29 Mars

Nous avons commencé un service de préparation de commande pour nos clients et plusieurs utilisent maintenant ce service ce qui réduit de beaucoup le trafic dans le magasin. Comme il nous est difficile de fournir à la demande, nous allons instaurer un nouvel horaire afin d’assurer un meilleur service tout en augmentant la sécurité de tous.

• Envoyer votre commande par courriel seulement à [email protected] (pas de tél.).

• La préparation et la cueillette des commandes se feront entre 8h30 et 18h tous les jours sauf le samedi.  (Il se peut que les commandes reçues le samedi ne soient disponibles que le dimanche)

• Dorénavant, du dimanche au vendredi, nous n’ouvrirons qu’à partir de 12H00 (midi) Ouvert toute la journée le samedi.

• Si votre commande est volumineuse, nous vous encourageons à prendre rendez-vous le matin en composant le 819-842-2487 et nous vous ouvrirons. En procédant de cette façon, nous espérons éliminer les longues files à la caisse durant les heures d’ouverture de l’après-midi et donc de minimiser les risques pour tout le monde. De plus, cela vous permettra de magasiner seul.

Procédure pour commande par courriel :

• Envoyer votre liste à [email protected]. Notez vos noms et num. de tél. en entête de chaque commande puis faire la liste complète des items désirés. Assurez vous de n’avoir rien oublié avant d’en faire l’envoi.

• SVP, soyez précis (marque/style/format) si nous n’avons pas l’item, nous chercherons la meilleure alternative.

• Dès que la commande est prête, nous vous appellerons pour vous en confirmer le coût et proposer des substitutions si nécessaires.

• Paiement par chèque ou sur votre compte de préférence. Argent comptant et carte de débit sont aussi possibles. Aucun virement bancaire pour l’instant.

• La cueillette se fait sur la galerie afin d’éviter le plus grand nombre de contact. La livraison est possible SI vous êtes en quarantaine.  Afin de nous faciliter la tâche, vérifiez si vos voisins ou amis pourraient venir chercher votre commande. Toutefois, si vous êtes dans l’impossibilité de trouver quelqu’un, nous enverrons un volontaire vous livrer le tout.

Nous vous remercions de votre coopération. Nous avons reçu un soutien incroyable de la part de la communauté afin de pouvoir offrir ce service.  Gardons la saine en gardant nos distances!

Starting March 29^th

Many people have been arranging pick-ups, which has been a huge help in reducing traffic in the store, but we are struggling to keep up. To deal with the overflow we have come up with a new schedule for the store that should keep people safe, while getting everyone what they need.

• For order pick-up, please e-mail your orders to us at [email protected], please do not call it in.

• Order preparation and pickup is available 8:30-6:00pm every day except Saturday (you can send us your order Saturday, but it won’t be ready until Sunday).

• Doors will only be open for regular shopping 12:00(noon) until closing Sunday to Friday. We will be open all day on Saturday.

• If you have a big shop to do, we encourage you to do it in the morning by appointment. Please call us at 819-842-2487 and we will open the door for you. We are hoping that getting the big orders out of the way early we’ll avoid line ups during the rest of the day, plus you’ll have the store to yourself.

How to send your order:

• Send your list to [email protected], include your name and tel. number at the head every order. Please ensure order is complete before sending.  

• Be specific – we may not have the exact brand/type of product you need, but it will help us prepare the right alternative. I will prep the order and call you to confirm the cost and any potential substitutions.

• Payment by check or charge preferable, cash and debit card is possible. Currently no bank transfers available.

• Pick-up can be done on the porch to respect self-isolation.

• If quarantined, delivery is possible, but we ask that you first see if neighbors or friends can pick the order up for you. If not then we will be able to match you with a volunteer to deliver them, but keep in mind that we are spread a little thin.

La Municipalité de North Hatley procède à une démarche de planification stratégique. 

Cette exercice, réalisée avec la collaboration de la firme Espace Stratégies, conduira à la préparation d’un plan d’action de développement de la Municipalité qui sera en cohérence avec les orientations et les valeurs qui auront fait consensus auprès de ces citoyens.

Le Conseil souhaite ainsi mener une démarche participative qui interpellera l’ensemble des citoyens et qui comportera plusieurs étapes qui s’échelonneront jusqu’en octobre 2020.

Pour la prochaine étape, vous êtes invités à nous signifier votre intérêt à participer au Comité de planification stratégique qui sera composé d’élus et de citoyens (5 à 8 personnes) issus des groupes suivants :

• Citoyen(ne)s de North Hatley ;
• Communauté des affaires ;
• Communautés des commerçants ;
• Domaine récréo-touristique ;
• Organisme communautaire ou domaine culturel.

Pour cette partie de l’exercice, l’objectif est d’échanger sur :

• La situation de North Hatley ; 
• Les actifs stratégiques ;
• Les tendances et les enjeux ; 
• L’identité stratégique ;
• La vision de la Municipalité.

La contribution attendue des membres du comité se situe à un niveau stratégique de la réflexion portant sur l’état actuel et l’avenir de la Municipalité dans un mode collaboratif et créatif qui mènera à la préparation et la présentation publique d’un plan d’action.

The Municipality of North Hatley is undertaking a strategic planning process. 

This exercise, carried out with the collaboration from the firm Espace Stratégies (in French only – admin) will lead to the preparation of a development action plan for the Municipality, which will be consistent with the orientations and values that will have been agreed upon by these citizens.

For the next step, you are invited to indicate your interest in participating in the Strategic Planning Committee which will be made up of elected officials and citizens (5 to 8 people) from the following groups:

For this part of the exercise, the objective is to discuss:

• The situation of North Hatley; 
• Strategic assets;
• Trends and challenges;
• The strategic identity;
• The vision of the Municipality.

The expected contribution from committee members is at a strategic level of reflection on the current state and the future of the Municipality in a collaborative and creative mode that will lead to the preparation and public presentation of a plan of action.

COMMENTAIRES FANHCA – PLANIFICATION STRATÉGIQUE À NORTH HATLEY /

La formation d’un comité de planification stratégique constitue un pas en avant très positif pour North Hatley. Les citoyens devraient certainement être encouragés à participer activement et ouvertement à l’élaboration d’une vision pour notre village.

D’entrée de jeu, il faut dire que la clé c’est l’intégration de tous les points de vue.

Le rôle du comité devrait être de consulter, et de consulter largement, avant toute décision. La consultation publique devrait être continue, avec des ajustements et des mises à jour constants, jusqu’à ce qu’il y ait consensus.

Avant d’aller de l’avant, certains éléments doivent être clarifiés:

1. Quel est le statut final du projet de condominium?

2. La consultation sera-t-elle menée de manière à susciter une grande variété de réactions de la part des citoyens plutôt que d’approuver simplement ce que le Conseil municipal aurait déjà décidé?

3. Est-ce que les citoyens devront supporter le poids financier total de cette consultation ou la MRC devrait-elle être invitée à y contribuer également?

Nous pourrions prendre l’exemple de la municipalité de Saint-Irénée, qui, en septembre 2018, a tenu une consultation publique sur son avenir, à laquelle seuls les citoyens (pas de médias, pas de membres du conseil, pas d’administrateurs municipaux) ont participé. L’objectif était que les citoyens (y compris les enfants) puissent s’exprimer pleinement et ouvertement. Un consultant extérieur a participé à l’organisation de l’événement, rémunéré grâce à l’aide financière de la MRC. Nos membres du conseil ont été informés à l’époque de cette démarche de consultation publique.

Afin de se préparer à participer au comité de planification stratégique 2020, les citoyens de North Hatley pourront vouloir se renseigner sur certaines actions et documents antérieurs concernant la planification pour l’avenir. (Veuillez noter que ces documents sont uniquement des aides à l’étude et ne doivent pas être considérés comme des solutions définitives.)

FANHCA COMMENTS – NORTH HATLEY STRATEGIC PLAN

This is a very positive step forward for North Hatley and certainly citizens should be encouraged to participate actively and openly in forming a vision for our village. 

At the outset, it must be stated that inclusivity is key. 

The role of the committee should be to consult, and to consult widely, prior to any decisions being made. Public consultation should be continuous, with constant adjustments and updates being made until there is consensus.

Prior to moving forward on this, certain elements require clarification:

1. What is the final status of the condominium project?

2. Will the consultation be carried out in a way to elicit a wide variety of reactions from the citizenry rather than simply to approve what Council had already decided?

3. Should the citizens bear the full financial brunt of this consultation or should the MRC also be asked to contribute?

We could take our lead from the municipality of St-Irénée which, in September of 2018, held a public consultation on its future, attended only by citizens (no media, no council members, no municipal administrators). The aim was for citizens (including children) to be able to express themselves fully and openly. An outside consultant was involved in organizing the event, paid through financial aid from the MRC. Our council members were made aware at the time of this approach to public consultation.

In order to prepare for participation on the 2020 Strategic Plan committee, citizens of North Hatley might want to brief themselves on some previous actions and documents with regards to planning and forward thinking. La démolition du Connaught a commencé il y a presque huit semaines, sur la façade avant du bâtiment, et depuis lors on n’y voit qu’un trou béant. Les travaux de démolition se sont arrêtés aussitôt qu’ils avaient commencé (le 13 décembre 2019, selon le site Web « Connaught Redevelopment »), et maintenant le permis de démolition a expiré. Selon le maire, la municipalité prévoit prolonger le permis et, en l’absence d’un inspecteur en bâtiment depuis la fin du mois de novembre, cela sera fait par un inspecteur temporaire d’EXP.

Pourquoi ce retard dans la démolition du bâtiment? Cela serait dû à des préoccupations liées à une contamination potentielle, préoccupations qui auraient dû être abordées avant de procéder à la démolition. Les résultats des tests ne sont pas encore connus, mais le maire a admis que, en cas de contamination, des conditions pourraient être imposées par la municipalité à la prolongation du permis. Parmi ces conditions devrait figurer l’imposition de délais stricts pour la décontamination sûre et rapide du bâtiment.

Les citoyens présents à la réunion du conseil municipal du 3 février 2020 ont exprimé des inquiétudes concernant la santé et la sécurité publiques. Le bâtiment étant désormais ouvert au vent et aux intempéries, rien n’empêche les contaminants potentiels, perturbés par la démolition partielle, de se disséminer dans l’air. Certains travaux se sont poursuivis dans la partie plus récente du Connaught depuis l’arrêt de la démolition. On ne peut qu’espérer que la sécurité des travailleurs a été convenablement assurée et que la santé des passants et de ceux qui vivent à proximité du Connaught sera protégée.

It has been almost eight weeks since demolition began on the front façade of the Connaught, and since then a gaping hole has been visible to all. Demolition work stopped as quickly as it had begun (on December 13, 2019, according to the website ‘Connaught Redevelopment’), and now the original demolition permit has expired. According to the mayor, the plan is to extend the permit, and, in the absence of a Town building inspector since the end of November 2019, this will be done by a temporary inspector on loan from EXP.

Why the delay in demolition? Apparently this has been due to concerns about contamination of the building, concerns that should have been addressed before defacing the building. The results of tests are not yet in, but the mayor acceded to the fact that, should there be shown to be contamination, conditions could be placed by the Town on the extension of the demolition permit. Among these conditions should be the imposition of strict timelines for the safe and expeditious decontamination of the building. 

Citizens present at the meeting of the town council on February 3, 2020 expressed concerns about public health and safety. With the building now open to the wind and the weather, there is nothing to prevent potential contaminants, disturbed by the partial demolition, from becoming airborne and dispersing through the air. Some work has continued in the newer part of the Connaught since demolition was stopped. One can only hope that the safety of workers has been adequately insured, and that the health of passers-by and of those living in close proximity to the Connaught will be protected.
