Marina
Le Conseil municipal de North Hatley tient à informer ses citoyens que dans la foulée des réflexions posées lors du processus de stratégie de positionnement de notre village, qu’il entamera dès janvier une réflexion plus pointue sur le devenir et sur la mission de la Marina.
Lors des consultations publiques associées à notre planification stratégique, la population a clairement exprimé son intérêt et ses inquiétudes concernant la Marina. Notre devoir d’élus est de mener une réflexion ciblée, en fonction de la vision commune qui émanera sous peu des conclusions de la démarche transparente et impartiale de cette planification. Afin que ce projet puisse correspondre à l’ADN de notre village, à un concept respectueux de l’environnement et à une bonne utilisation des accès à nos plans d’eau, nous sommes appelés à orienter nos processus décisionnels en toute cohérence avec ce qui a été exprimé dans la démarche collective des derniers mois.
Enfin, tant que Ministère n’aura pas statué sur l’avenir de la zone inondable dans laquelle est localisée la Marina, il est impensable d’imaginer un projet impliquant une modification au bâtiment actuel ou un projet à implanter sur le site actuel.
Nous vous tiendrons informés de l’avancement du dossier, mais à ce jour, la réflexion du Conseil est à un stade embryonnaire. Au moment opportun, un appel à soumettre des projets correspondants aux règles et au cadre établis par la Municipalité sera lancé.

Report on North Hatley Municipal Council’s position on our municipal marina:
Your Municipal Council has been working on developing a vision for our marina as part of the ongoing process of strategic planning for the future of the village, embarked upon in 2020. The future and vocation of the marina will be considered in more depth starting in January 2021.
Input from our citizens during public consultations in 2020 on the strategic plan under development made it clear that marina renovation is a priority. As we have been elected by you, our citizens, to carry out your visions for our village, we take your input seriously. We are working toward a vision evolving from the comments and ideas coming from many of you, endeavouring to be transparent and impartial during the planning process. The concept for the marina must encompass respect for the environment while making optimum use of our lake and river access, ideas that are reinforced by the reflections expressed by you, our citizens, during the consultation process.
At present, the Ministry governing flood zone usage in the province has not yet pronounced on what we can do in the way of building renovation or reconstruction in our own flood zone, in which the marina is located. Until this pronouncement is made, we cannot countenance any modification to the marina.
We will do our best to keep you informed about our plans for marina development, but must state that at this point, we are still in the early stages of planning. The municipality plans to set out guidelines based on your input for the marina project, and will call for projects emanating from you that will fit within these guidelines when it becomes feasible to move forward.
