L’augmentation très considérable des embarcations, spécialement à North Hatley, inquiète nos membres. Les courriels et les appels se multiplient chez Bleu Massawippi.
À la Marina de North Hatley, on nous indique que les embarcations légères échappent trop souvent à leur contrôle et que le personnel fait régulièrement appel à la patrouille nautique pour tenter, tant bien que mal, d’endiguer cette tendance.
POURQUOI LAVER?
Parce que des larves de moules zébrées, invisibles pour les yeux, restent vivantes sur les embarcations, jusqu’à 5 jours après une visite d’un plan d’eau contaminé, beaucoup plus longtemps dans les recoins humides. Parce que le lac Massawippi est très vulnérable, sa contamination engendrerait, selon les experts, « des tapis de moules zébrées » et des conséquences désastreuses, notamment l’augmentation de la densité et de l’étendue des herbiers.
COMMENT LAVER?
Au lac Massawippi, il faut IMPÉRATIVEMENT passer par l’une des 2 stations de lavage, et détenir en tout temps un certificat valide. C’est la loi.

The very significant increase in the number of boats, especially in North Hatley, is worrying our members. E-mails and calls are increasing at Blue Massawippi.
The people at the North Hatley Marina tell us that light watercraft are too often escaping their control and that the staff regularly call on the boat patrol to try to stop this trend, as best they can.
WHY WASH?
Because zebra mussel larvae, unnoticeable to the naked eye, remain alive on boats for up to five days after visiting a contaminated body of water, and much longer in damp nooks and crannies.
Because Lake Massawippi is especially vulnerable, its contamination would, according to experts, lead to “mats of zebra mussels” and devastating consequences, including an increase in the density and extent of seagrass beds.
HOW TO WASH?
At Lake Massawippi, you have to IMPERATIVELY go through one of the two wash stations, and hold a valid certificate at all times. This is the law.
